Little Elm calls May
10 council election While the presidential election may be drawing most of the headlines, the May council election is drawing rapidly closer. The Little Elm Town Council called the May 10 election during Tuesday's council meeting. This year's election will determine Council Seats 1 and 6, currently held by David Hillock and Brenda Mills. In other action during Tuesday's council meeting: * The council approved, following two public hearings, a strategic partnership agreement with Denton County Freshwater Supply District 8-B for property lying within the town's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The agreement is necessary for a future limited purpose sales tax annexation. * The council approved, following a public hearing, zoning for farmer's market, with the provisions that they be allowed year round, no more than 20 percent of the goods be other than produce and restroom facilities must be available. * Sam's Club presented a $750 donation to the Little Elm Library. * Charlena Peach presented plaques to the fire and police departments for their support of the recent pancake breakfast benefiting the Barta family. * The mayor proclaimed Feb. 22 as Christian Community Action Day in honor of their 35th anniversary. * The council approved the consent agenda, consisting of the minutes of the Jan. 15 precouncil meeting, public hearings and regular council and Jan. 22 worksession and special meeting; calling for a joint election between LEISD and Little Elm for the May 10 election at Little Elm Town Hall and an interlocal agreement with Denton County regarding the lease of voting machines and equipment; acceptance of a storm water detention easement from Paloma Creek; acceptance of Kasey Carver's resignation from the planning and zoning commission since he has moved out of state; the reclassification of the Administrative Assistant II position to Planning Technician. * The council discussed a request by Oncor for a rate increase because of plans to change the type of street light fixtures. Oncor's service area is limited to only a portion of Little Elm west of the bridge. * The council approved a settlement agreement with Atmos Energy regarding their proposed rate increase. * The council approved an agreement with Royal Storage on Hwy. 380 relating to signage. With preparatory signage work begun before the property became part of Little Elm's ETJ, the agreement includes provisions for Royal to remove its current roof-mounted signs and place them on the walls instead and relocation of street-pole signs as redesign as monument signs. * The council approved a predevelopment agreement with Valencia. * The council approved the bylaws of the Community Development Corporation. * The council accepted the bid from Ferguson Waterworks Supply for radio read water meters. * The council rescheduled its first council meeting in March for March 5 because of the conflict with the March 4 primary and town hall's use as a voting site for both the Democratic and Republican parties.
