Filing for council election begins Monday Individuals interested in filing for a place on the ballot for the Little Elm Town Council may begin filing Monday, Feb. 11. District (Places) 1 and 6 of the Little Elm Town Council will be elected on May 10. Interested persons may file an application for a place on the ballot Monday, Feb. 11 through March 10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Packets for those who are interested in becoming a candidate may be picked up at the Town Hall Center, Second Floor Administration Office, located at 100 West Eldorado Parkway, Little Elm, Texas 75068. Candidates must file at the Town Hall Center with the Town Secretary for the May 10, 2008 General Election. To be eligible to serve on the Town Council, candidates shall be a qualified voter of the Town, shall be not less than twenty-one years of age, shall have resided in the Town not less than twelve months immediately preceding election day, and shall meet the requirements of the Texas Election Code. Each Council member must continually reside within the Town during his/her term of office, and any removal of his/her residency from the Town during his/her term shall constitute a vacation of his/her office. The Mayor and Place 1 and 6 may be residents of any portion of the Town. Council members for Districts (Places) 2, 3, 4 and 5 must reside in, and be elected from the district for which the specific place applies. A term of office shall be for a period of three years or any portion thereof. No person shall serve as Mayor for more than two successive terms, and no person shall serve as Council members for more than successive terms.
