Khan,
Kemmerer top LEHS Class of 2008 Valedictorian Wajiha Khan and salutatorian Angel Kemmerer will lead Little Elm High School's Class of 2008 in graduation exercises at the Coliseum of the University of North Texas at 7 p.m. this Saturday. Khan, daughter of the late Dr. Khan and Patsy and Sabir Bashir, has attended Little Elm ISD for 11 years. She has a younger brother, Wajahat Khan, 14. Khan boasts a 4.5 grade point average. During her stint at Little Elm High School, Khan has participated on the student council, prom committee, HOSA, been active in UIL and peer tutoring and served as vice president of the National Honor Society. Among her honors and awards, Khan has received the Austin College Dean's Scholarship, a LEAF dual-credit scholarship, NCTC scholarship, LEAF senior scholarship, CoServ Electric scholarship, Denton County Sheriff's Office Award, Lion's Club scholarship and Lion's Club Outstanding Youth Award, Top 10 for four years, No. 1 for four years, Student of the Year English I, HSTEI and HSTEII, AP World History, Biology and Biology AP. Khan plans to attend Austin College this fall, where she'll major in biology as a pre-med student, working toward becoming a doctor or general surgeon. As for what she'll remember most about LEHS, Khan said, "I will always remember my teachers and their dedication to their work.” As for how she hopes to be remembered, she said, "Aside from being the first Pakistani valedictorian, I want to be remembered as the girl who went from knowing only three lines of English to the top of the class.” As she prepares to leave LEHS, Khan said she'll miss the small town of Little Elm the most. "I will miss the small town appeal of Little Elm," she said. "The town has changed so much but I will always remember the people and the places that used to be around before we started to grow.” Salutatorian Angel Kemmerer is the daughter of Phil and Shelly Kemmerer. She has attended LEISD eight years and has four siblings, Dusty, 26, Ariel, 16, Levi, 13, and Taner, 10. Kemmerer finishes her career at LEHS with a 4.47 GPA. During her time at LEHS, Kemmerer has been a member of the Lady Lobos soccer team and participated in the National Honor Society, YPWC, UIL history and tons of AP classes. Among her honors and awards, Kemmerer was named a first- and second-team all-district soccer player, two-time Most Valuable Player, voted Prettiest Eyes, advanced to UIL regionals for history and was student of the year in geography and biology. Kemmerer will attend Rogers State University this fall and like her classmate Khan plans to major in biology as a premed student. In addition to working toward becoming a doctor in sports medicine, Kemmerer will continue her soccer career at the college level. Asked she'll remember most at LEHS, Kemmerer said, "how much fun our soccer team was.” As for how she hopes to be remembered: "The coolest salutatorian ever. Also that people could always talk to me and I would listen.” Kemmerer notes she'll miss her friends and soccer coaches the most. Rounding out the top 10 percent of the Class of 2008, in no particular order, are Reyna Trevino, Rebeca Pescador, Marie Antoinette Ware, Lindsay Rollins, Mary Beth Yale, Danielle Henry, Nicholas Howe, Stephanie Lepchenske, Avdo Omeragic, Trevor Murray, Benjamin Jameson, Courtney Herrin, Alyssa Ramirez, Rebekah Goodner, Amanda Skiles, Brittany Lepchenske, Mauricio Velas-quez, Diana DeSantiago, Haley Boman, Itohan Irene Udogie, Jazzper Lacey, Lauren Batchhelder, Joritsedere Stanley-Ikhilioju and Sandra Miranda.
