Oak Point finalizes 720 annexation

In a brief council meeting Monday, the Oak Point City Council finalized the annexation of right-of-way along FM 720 to Quail Meadows within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction in an effort to broaden its commercial footprint.

The council also noted its intention to proceed with citywide Fourth of July festivities including a parade.

In other business, the council: * Authorized the hiring of an accounting/administrative specialist.

* Authorized the city manager to hire a second administrative intern if necessary.

* Scheduled a special council meeting June 30 to canvass the votes of the June 21 runoff election, award bids on a turn lane on Shahan Prairie into the new Oak Point Elementary, and receive a presentation on the audit.
