Little Elm boat ramp, beach slated for Aug. 31 reopening

Little Elm is targeting Aug. 31 for the reopening of its beach and boat ramp in Little Elm Park.

"The Parks and Recreation staff has been in contact with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and they are fine with the town making the decision on when to open the boat ramp," said parks director Tony Chrisman.

"Additionally, we will be opening the beach on the same date," he added.

"By opening on the 31st, it will give families the Labor Day weekend, which is the traditional wrap up of the boating season.” Chrisman noted that the parks staff feels the ramp will be fine by the targeted date of Aug. 31. He added that if any damage is sustained prior to the 14-day waiting period for the asphalt to dry, the town will be responsible for repairs.

Prior to re-opening the beach Chrisman added park staff will sweep the swim area for any submerged logs or debris that might cause any injury.
