Town continues to
enjoy rise in sales With municipalities statewide seeing an average of a 9.1-percent increase in their monthly sales tax rebate, Little Elm was ahead of the curve in September. Little Elm received a $157,317.20 sales tax rebate in September, up 17.73 percent from a year ago, when it received $133,624.90. To date, the town is 11.31 percent ahead of 2006, up from $1,188,688.67 to $1,323,242.76. Oak Point, meanwhile, received a rebate of $9,519.66, a 151-percent increase over its rebate last September, when it received $3,792.56. For the year, the city is up 88.58 percent, from $42,451.80 to $80,057.11. Cross Roads, however, saw a marked decrease in its monthly sales tax revenue, down 53.78 percent from $45,526 to $21,037.57 to put it 12.46 percent behind for the year, down from $227,693.29 to $199,307.84. Neighboring Aubrey was up 18.22 percent for the month, from $33,087.91 to $39,119.54 and is slightly ahead for the year, up 3.87 percent from $369,321.03 to $383,646.78. As for the three largest municipalities in the area, all are up slightly for both the month and year. The Colony saw a 2.91-percent increase in its monthly rebate, from $415,862.64 to $427,989.18, to put it up 5.46 percent for the year, from $3,931,296.57 to $4,146,095.40. Denton was up 6.4 percent for the month, from $1,475,059.68 to $1,569,555.56. For the year, the city is up 3.62 percent, from $14,239,909.04 to $14,755,842.13. Frisco enjoyed a 9.03-percent increase in its monthly sales tax check, up from $2,838,956.19 to $3,095,451.23 to put its annual tally at $28,730,526.21, up 5.83 percent from the $27,2146,298.56 it had collected as of this time last year. Local allocations were among $302.9 million delivered to Texas cities in September. Calendar year-to-date, city sales tax revenues are running 7.1 percent higher than last year. September's sales tax allocations include local sales taxes collected in July and reported to the Comptroller in August.
