Lakeside Happenings Little Elm will kick off the beginning of a Neighborhood Watch program in the area of Clark and Button streets Nov. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Praise Fellowship Worship Center. Area coordinator Shawn Crutcher noted residents on Clark, Button, West Park, North Park, Witt, Lakeside, Main, Eldorado, Lobo Lane and Cottonwood are encouraged to participate. Steve Garst, community relations director with the Little Elm Police Department, will serve as trainer for the program. “This meeting is open to all to attend,” Crutcher said. “We wanted as many people as possible to come. We want to continue to make our town and community safer for all to enjoy, to live, to work and to play.” For more information, contact Crutcher at 972-292-1802. * * * The Little Elm Area Adult Seniors is having their “Nite Out” event on Friday, Nov 21, 2008. Jim and Lois Witt will feature their band “Back in Time” for all to enjoy. Bring your family and enjoy a night of music and dancing to the oldies. You can bring your favorite dish for others to enjoy also if you like. The event will be in the Community Center, at 7:00pm, just behind the fire station on Hardwick. This will be open to our residents and the general public. Preston on the Lake will do all the advertising for you. We will be serving snacks and goodies to all who come all day. * * * Confidential memory screenings are being offered by Accolade Home Care as part of National Memory Screening Day, a national initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). The screenings will be offered at Dogwood Estates, 2820 Wind River Lane Denton, TX 76210, Nov. 18, 9am-3pm. For information, call Accolade Homecare in Denton at 940-891-1161. * * * The Little Elm Area Food Bank will be taking applications for Christmas Baskets until the end of November. “We are hoping to feed all those who otherwise would not have a dinner for Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said Virginia Berney with the Little Elm Food Bank. “If you are in need of this kind of help, come and fill out the paperwork necessary for you to get this.” Berney noted that applications may be picked up from LEISD school counselors or at the Little Elm Area Food Bank, 501 Bill St. (off of Lobo Lane). Applicants must present a picture ID and license, water bill, rent or house payment and a questionnaire must be filled out and signed. The food bank is open Monday 9-4, Thursday 12-5, Fridays 9-12 and Sat. Oct. 18 9-3 (3rd Sat.) Thanksgiving baskets will be distributed on Nov. 22; if not picked up that day they will be forfeited. Christmas Baskets will be distributed on Dec. 20; if
not picked up that day they will be forfeited Secret Santa of Little Elm (formerly Santa’s Elves) will begin taking applications on Wednesday, Nov. 5 to assist families not as fortunate with their Christmas this year. Applicants must come to the Town Hall, second floor at the Public Works Office to fill out the application (applicants need to bring Picture ID, proof of residency such as water bill, electric bill, etc., applicants also need to bring proof of income statement.) Applications will not be considered without the requested information. Applicants cannot apply if seeking assistance elsewhere, and must meet the criteria and guidelines of the board. Secret Santa is to help area children who may not be enrolled in the Little Elm Independent School District and do not have access to the Angel Tree program sponsored by the LEISD. We are here to help families with children 0-14 year of age; this program is designed to assist families with children below school age, home schooled children, children attending alternative schools and special needs children. have a “big red box” located in the 1st floor lobby for new toys,

also be adopted. We need your help.
